Submit an article : guidelines for authors
French Otorhinolaryngology is the official
voice of the French Society of Otorhinolaryngology-- Head and Neck Surgery
(FSO) and of the French National Annual Otorhinolaryngology Meeting. The
journal seeks to disseminate scientific data among the international otorhinolaryngology
medical community, to promote the development of scientific knowledge,
and to improve patient management.
To this end, the journal publishes original articles dealing
with all facets of clinical management and research in the fields of otorhinolaryngology
and of head and neck surgery. All submitted manuscripts go through a peer-review
process. The reviewers advise the editors, who make the final decision
to accept or reject the manuscript. Acceptance of manuscripts is based
on originality, interpretation, coherence, scientific validity, and substance
of the work. Findings and ideas described in the articles are those of
the authors and are not necessarily endorsed by Editorial Board members
or reviewers.
Editorial Board members, reviewers, and the FSO do not
accept responsibility for the veracity of the material published in the
journal. By virtue of submitting a manuscript to French Otorhinolaryngology,
the authors certify that the material has not been published previously
in its entirety and is not under consideration for publication elsewhere.
Authors must disclose previous publication and supply copies of the previous
versions. All authors must sign a form transferring copyright to French
Otorhinolaryngology. Authors must disclose financial associations
with companies or products mentioned in the manuscript. These associations
may take the form of grants, fees, gifts, consultancies, or stock ownership.
Thus, the term "financial associations" refers not only to fees or gifts
received by authors, but also to funds or equipment received by Departments
or Institutions.
One digital copy should be sent by electronic mail to French
Otorhinolaryngology at the following address:
French Otorhinolaryngology Secretary
e-mail: secretariat@rforl.com
Submitted manuscripts are reviewed by experts in the relevant
field, who may request revisions to the manuscript before considering
final acceptance. French Otorhinolaryngology undertakes
to answer requests for publication within 2 months. Revised manuscripts
must be submitted within 5 months after the offer of publication subject
to revision; both a clean version and a marked up version of the revised
manuscript must be sent.
Manuscripts accepted by the reviewers and Editors in Chief
may be copy-edited to improve readability and clarity, as well as to conform
to the journal format and style. Then, the proofs are sent in digital
form to the corresponding author for review and approval. If the author
fails to respond within 5 days, the manuscript is published without further
changes. French Otorhinolaryngology publishes submission
and acceptance dates for each article.

MANUSCRIPT SUBMISSION
Submit one digital copy by e-mail. MS-DOS and Macintosh
are acceptable. Microsoft Word files are preferred. Type the manuscript
in 12-point Times New Roman with 2.5 cm (1 inch) margins. Use double-spacing
throughout. Number all pages starting with the title page. Divide the
manuscript into five sections: Introduction, Materials and Methods, Results,
Discussion, and Conclusion. Append to the manuscript a copyright transfer
form (see below) listing the typed names of all authors with the signatures
opposite the names. Faxed copyright transfer forms are acceptable.
The copyright transfer form should include the following
sentences: "The authors of the manuscript who have signed this form
transfer copyright for the manuscript entitled xxxxxxxxxxxx to French
Otorhinolaryngology should the manuscript be published. The authors who
sign the form state that they have helped to design, conduct, and/or report
the study; the study is original; the manuscript does not belong to a
third party and has not been commissioned by another publication or submitted
to another publication; and the manuscript has not been published elsewhere

animal experiments, or any other study requiring ethics committee approval,
the materials and methods section of the manuscript must state that such
approval was obtained. Disclose all potential conflicts of interest. On
the title page, state all funding sources (name of payer) and types (e.g.,
grants, fellowships, salaries, fees, or payment in kind).

that fail to comply with the guidelines will not be sent to reviewers
until corrected. Use good English. Either British or American spelling
is accepted but should be used consistently throughout the manuscript.
Abbreviations are permitted in the text; limit the number of abbreviations
in the manuscript to five, and first write out each term in full with
the abbreviation in parentheses immediately after it. Use abbreviations
consistently throughout the manuscript.
Title page
(page 1 of the manuscript)
The title should not exceed 75 characters, including punctuation marks
and spaces. Supply a short title of no more than 36 character-spaces.
Provide the full names, highest degrees, and affiliations of the authors.
Specify the corresponding author with the name of the department and hospital,
the postal address, the phone and fax numbers, and the e-mail address.
State whether you will order reprints and give the postal address for
